About
Discover the rich lore and mechanics behind Modern Command. |
Command | Description |
---|---|
+jobs | There's always something to do! The +jobs command shows a list of jobs. +jobs can only be added or changed by an administrator. If you are interested in taking a job, please let an admin know. |
+bio | Biographies are just that; the story of a players life. Biographies should be considered common knowledge. If something in a players biography is specifically marked private, please respect it. You should also keep in mind that players here are senior-level leaders, and their past is reasonably well known, so the whole "dark stranger from a dark place" thing probably won't work. Players unfamiliar with MUSH formatting might want to take a look at chyhelp substitutionsc/ and chyhelp ansi()c/ |
+time | +time shows a list of all time zones, and major cities in those zones. Your current time is marked with a green [1;32m-->[0m. If you would like to see the time of another player, simply use +time |
+who | +who (you can use who) shows a list of currently connected players. |
+sheet | +sheet shows a character sheet. Skills, experience, attributes, merits, etc, are available. |
+credits | +credits are just that; credits to the huge number of people who have helped me make Modern Command what it is; I am sure I have left some of the list; this is not due to their effort, just me being forgetful. Thank you. |
clients | Connecting to Modern Command is better with a client. Almost all of them are free, or available for a very small charge. If you are using Linux, we suggest tinyfugue. http://tf.tcp.com/~hawkeye/tf/ If you are using OS X, we suggest Atlantis: http://www.riverdark.net/atlantis/ For you windows folks, we suggest the following: http://www.gammon.com.au/mushclient/mushclient.htm If you have annoying firewall issues, or can't install software on your computer, take a look at http://www.moderncommand.com/old/telnet/ It requires the java runtime environment which almost all computers have. There are plenty of other great clients out there, just google "mud clients" or "mush clients". |
+rules | Rules are an important part of any game, and Modern Command is no exception. Please carefully read all the rules. If you have any questions or constructive comments about the rules, we welcome them. You are responsible for knowing the rules here. While we avoid enthusiastically enforcing rules here, we do expect players to follow them. One last thing: The common sense doctrine. If a rule is completely out of sorts...or the way it is being enforced makes no sense at all (defying common sense) you may ask an administrator to review it. Please post such requests to board 1 (public) |
+finger | +finger allows a player to gain information about another player. All of the commands above are fairly self-explanatory. Please note this is all public information, so be careful about putting in your email if you don't want people to see it (you might consider a yahoo or hotmail account). +notify simply notifies you when someone fingers you. |
+conv | Considering everyone but the US and to a lesser extent, Britian uses the metric system, we have included some common conversions. It's quite easy to add other conversions, so please ask if you want them. +conv/kg converts kilograms, just in case you were interested. :-) |
+osay | Occasionally, players may want to speak out of character, while on the IC grid. To do so, please use one of the following commands noted above. Please do not use +osay a lot, as it tends to disrupt the roleplay environment. |
+ic | +ic sends you to the In-Character grid. Your status changes to IC, and you are officially "In character"! To get out of IC mode, simply type +ooc |
+ooc | +ooc puts you Out Of Character. Your status changes to OOC, and you are officially out-of character! To get out of OOC mode, simply type +ic |
+theme | The theme files are meant to help players understand the philosophy and ideas behind Modern Command. It's probably a good idea to look at this at least once; we'll tell you when it changes. |
+awards | Awards are a way to recognize exemplarary play on Modern Command. This can be anything from good teamwork and leadership to great roleplay. It can also be for good OOC stuff - suggesting specific improvements, working on softcode, the website, etc... Players are encouraged to give awards to other players. We might arrange an exchange system for awards...players with large numbers of awards might get some extra skill points, or perhaps some experience points, or maybe a scandal reduction...if you are interested, contact an admin. |
+source | Many of the room descriptions were taken from various websites, and in an effort to honor the sources, we've crafted this lil command. If on the off chance we've made some sort of error, please @mail Boris and let him know about it. |
+links | +links is simply a list of helpful and informative links. If you would like to add a link to the list, please @mail Boris, or any other admin |
+cycle | +cycle simply tells you how much time is left until the next cycle. |
